The Masca ravine is a narrow valley in the northwest of Tenerife, within the Teno massif, in the municipality of Buenavista del Norte. It is a popular destination for its spectacular scenery and unique geology. An eight-kilometre trail leaves the village of Masca and follows the gorge to Masca beach.
The Teno massif is Miocene and made of basaltic lavas, with flows less than a metre thick crossed by dykes. The Masca unconformity is a gap of 10 to 15 metres, tilted between 30 and 60 degrees to the north.
It is wise to check the state of the trail and the access conditions beforehand. A deep ravine between rock walls that runs down to the sea.
