The Sierra de Guara is a range of the Pre-Pyrenees, about 25 kilometres northeast of Huesca, between the rivers Guatizalema and Alcanadre. Its highest point is the Tozal de Guara, at 2,077 metres, and in its eastern part lies the Sierra y Cañones de Guara natural park. It is famous for its gorges, suitable for canyoning, and for the village of Alquézar, perched above the river Vero, which has revived thanks to rural tourism.
Its rock is Paleogene limestone, with sandstone and Miocene conglomerate on the southern edge and mallos such as that of the Salto de Roldán. On the north face there are Pyrenean oak woods, Scots pine, beech and mountain pine; on the south, holm oak and scrub of box, hedgehog broom and kermes oak.
Walkways, canyons and clear water in a perfect corner for those seeking nature and calm.
