Cap de Formentor is the northernmost point of Mallorca, in the municipality of Pollensa, beside Pollensa Bay. In some places its cliffs reach 300 metres in height.
The 13.5 km road leaving the port of Pollensa was built by Antonio Parietti in 1925 and leads to the lighthouse, with viewpoints over the Mediterranean; it is one of the most spectacular routes on the island, especially in the late afternoon. The lighthouse was inaugurated in 1863 and its construction was difficult because of how remote the place is.
In 1928 the Argentinian Adan Diehl built the Hotel Formentor. In the area are Cala en Gossalba, Cala Murta and Cala Figuera.
