Oyambre Natural Park, on the western coast of Cantabria, covers 5,758 hectares spread across Comillas, San Vicente de la Barquera, Udías, Valdáliga and Val de San Vicente. It was declared a natural park on 26 October 1988, after environmental and popular pressure in the 1970s against development projects.

It includes the estuaries of the rías of San Vicente and La Rabia, rocky and muddy intertidal zones, cliffs and dune systems, with meadows and native broadleaf woods.

Among its birds are the common teal, the mallard, the dunlin, the Eurasian curlew, the European shag and the yellow-legged gull. Beaches, rías and meadows that fall to the sea, with Comillas and San Vicente very close.
