El Mónsul-Barronal-Morrón de Los Genoveses is a group of volcanic formations in the province of Almería, south of Cabo de Gata. They are volcanic cones of Neogene age.
At El Mónsul, small flattened, eroded volcanic cones rise above the Mónsul beach. Cerro Barronal is an irregularly shaped cone beside the sea, 165 metres at its highest, with a collapsed crater open to the sea in the form of a small valley; it is andesite and lichens predominate on its slopes.
The Morrón de Los Genoveses preserves the remains of a small volcanic cone, on a headland south of the Los Genoveses beach. Almost pristine beaches, clear water and a dry, luminous landscape make up one of the most unique coasts of the Spanish Mediterranean.
