The river Mundo is the main tributary of the Segura, 107.7 km long with a basin of 2,395.2 km². It rises in the Prebetic system, between Vianos and Riópar, in the Sierra de Alcaraz (Albacete), in the Calares del Mundo y de la Sima Natural Park, at 1,520 metres of altitude, as an overflow of the aquifer that feeds the Calar del Mundo range.

Its source includes a cave of more than 32 km and a cliff of more than 300 metres. It is a karst phenomenon known as the 'Reventón' (the 'burst'), which looks best in spring.

Its tributaries are the rivers Bogarra and Vega de Riópar, and it receives the Tagus-Segura Transfer canal at the Talave reservoir (35 hm³). It gushes from a cave and tumbles in waterfalls among forests.
