The Monasterio de Piedra, in Nuévalos (Zaragoza), occupies a former Cistercian monastery dedicated to Santa María la Blanca, founded in 1194 by monks from Poblet, beside the river Piedra. After the confiscation of church property it became a tourist establishment.
Juan Federico Muntadas turned the old orchard into a landscaped garden. The park has about 5 km of trails and the Cola de Caballo waterfall is more than 50 metres high.
It was declared a Picturesque National Site (1945), National Monument (1983), Site of Cultural Interest (2009) and historic garden (2010). A green oasis in the middle of the plateau, with waterfalls, caves and lakes.
