Cascadas del Huéznar

Sevilla · Andalucía

Photo: Rincón del Sibarita

The Huéznar waterfalls are a natural monument of 16,196 square metres (1.62 hectares), created in 2001, on the Rivera del Huéznar river, in San Nicolás del Puerto, within the Sierra Norte de Sevilla natural park. They are about 2 kilometres downstream from the village.

They are an example of river travertine: the water, rich in calcium carbonate, comes from the Guadalcanal–San Nicolás del Puerto karst aquifer and gradually deposits mineral that forms slides and curtains of rock. They are surrounded by a gallery forest of elms, ash trees, willows and alders.

Public use is restricted and recreational bathing in the waterfalls is not allowed.
