La Pedriza is a great granite batholith of 3,200 hectares on the southern slope of the Sierra de Guadarrama, in Manzanares el Real, in the northwest of the Community of Madrid. It is made up of numerous crags, rock walls, scree slopes, streams and meadows, and its highest point is the Torres de La Pedriza, at 2,029 metres.

It has been a Natural Site of National Interest since 1930, a regional park since 1985 and a biosphere reserve since 1992; since 2013 its northern part has been in the Sierra de Guadarrama National Park. There are Mediterranean and high-mountain plants, and Spanish ibex and raptors live here.

El Yelmo was first climbed in 1864 and there are about 1,000 climbing routes. You get there by the M-608 to Canto Cochino (250 parking spaces) or by bus line 724. A granite paradise an hour from Madrid.
