The Montejo beech forest is a beech wood of 250 hectares, on the foothills of the Sierra de Ayllón, in Montejo de la Sierra (Community of Madrid). It is one of the southernmost beech forests in Europe. It was declared a Natural Site of National Interest in 1974 and forms part of the Sierra del Rincón Biosphere Reserve.
Some beeches exceed 20 metres, and the one called La Roca is more than 250 years old. Its fauna includes roe deer and wild boar.
Access is restricted to free guided visits, so it is wise to find out and book before you go. It turns the slopes gold in autumn.
