Ojo Guareña is a karst complex in the province of Burgos, with more than 110 kilometres of galleries, declared a Natural Monument by the Junta de Castilla y León in 1996 (Decrees 60/1996 and 61/1996). It covers 13,850 hectares in Espinosa de los Monteros, the Merindad de Montija and the Merindad de Sotoscueva.
The caves formed in Coniacian limestones (about 85 million years old), 130 metres thick, above a layer of impermeable marls. There is rock art in the Palomera cave, with paintings about 10,000 years old, and in the Kaite cave, with deer. 187 invertebrate species have been documented (up to 2012).
The interpretation centre is in Quintanilla del Rebollar, 6 km away. An underground world of caves and canyons in the north of Burgos.
