The Laguna Grande de Gredos is in the Sierra de Gredos, in Navalperal de Tormes (Ávila), at 1,940 metres of altitude, in a glacial overdeepening basin of the Circo de Gredos shaped by Würm ice. It covers about 6.3 hectares and has a maximum depth of 6.5 metres.

It forms part of the Sierra de Gredos Regional Park. The summit of Almanzor presides over it from the south, with an average drop of more than 450 metres from the surrounding peaks. It is an oligotrophic lake that freezes in winter and drains into the Garganta de Gredos, a tributary of the Tormes.

You reach it by the PR-AV 17 trail from the Plataforma de Gredos (1,750 m), 2 to 3 hours each way. A high-mountain lake with granite walls around it.
