Playa del Silencio, also called Gavieiru, is a pebble beach of about 500 metres, with no direct road access, surrounded by imposing quartzite cliffs. It is in Castañeras, in the municipality of Cudillero, and lies within a Special Protection Area for Birds and a Site of Community Importance.

It forms part of the Protected Landscape of the Western Coast of Asturias, although this has not yet been declared. Its geomorphological interest includes cliff retreat, the abrasion platform, marine terraces and cuspate features.

Its clear waters allow diving and spearfishing, which require a licence from the Principality of Asturias. On the busiest summer days the access road fills with cars. Its name comes from its calm.
